In Whistle Where You Work’s latest episode, at right, we focus on the state of American school lunches safety, with an emphasis on current problems with school food integrity and the system as a whole. The discussion hits on several points, including the failure of the federal government and companies to alert schools about tainted product, the labyrinthine network of food suppliers, the lax standards for schools when compared to fast food, and the inadequate inspection rate of cafeterias.
Also, in this episode, in 1969 the Carter administration created the President’s Commission on Executive Exchange, with the purpose of fostering short-term executive exchanges – bringing private sector executives to work in the federal government while sending federal executives to work for corporations. In 1991, George H. W. Bush shuttered the agency in the wake of our whistleblower guest.
